Meet Aruwin

Growing up as a very active child, Aruwin took part in many sports and activities. From swimming to surfing, dancing to figure skating, and most definitely skiing, she was extremely passionate about everything that she tried. With all the sports that she played, she was drawn to the cold; the winter sports world. Aruwin dreamed of becoming an Olympian, and wanted to do something bold and new. Between figure skating and alpine skiing, she and her family drove 6 hours back and forth every weekend for her to ski in Sun Peaks, BC, Canada, and returned to train figure skating during the week. At 11 years old, Aruwin and her family moved from Bellingham, Washington to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to chase her goals in winter sports. She later decided to halt competitive figure skating, seeing that she was making greater progress in ski racing, and began racing under the Malaysian flag in FIS International Children’s series not long after. In 2018, Aruwin gained an opportunity to train and race in the Dolomites of Italy, thus beginning the more competitive era of her career. Aruwin continued to train and race regularly in Europe, and by the end of her first year of FIS, the Olympic dream was in sight. In 2022 at just 17 years old and her second year of FIS, Aruwin became the first female and youngest athlete to represent Malaysia at the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, China. This was her start of doing something bold and new.

After competing at her second Olympic games: Milano-Cortina 2026, Aruwin continues her journey to be a trailblazer for Malaysia in winter sports and continues to aim to for the FIS World Cup circuit as the first Southeast Asian to do so.

 

Aruwin was also recently accepted into Boston University, where she will continue to pursue her studies alongside her skiing goals.
