Aruwin's Skiing Journey

In February 2022, Aruwin Salehhuddin became the first female and youngest athlete to represent Malaysia at a Winter Olympic Games. At just 17 years old, she competed in the two technical disciplines of alpine skiing. This was just the start of Aruwin's skiing journey. With commitment, passion, and dedication, Aruwin continues to shred the slopes to pursue her dreams of becoming a world class ski racer. Being one of the few Malaysians to ever represent at a Winter Olympics, she also hopes to pave a way for tropical countries in snow sports, and encourage more interest in this wintery world.

Aruwin’s international ski career has been primarily self-funded, fiercely navigating the slopes against heavily backed ski federations from developed winter nations. Beyond her goal of reaching the FIS World Cup circuit, she is passionate to build an enduring support system so that future Malaysian children can seamlessly pursue winter sports. However, without financial support, her dreams of uplifting future generations of Malaysian winter sports athletes and reaching the highest level of the sport will be cut short. Aruwin is currently looking for potential sponsors and collaborations and would be very appreciative of your support and joining her journey.

2 weeks home is enough right?

Let's see - college touring, decisions! lotss of coffee runs, and a little bit of r&r time (maybe).. not bad :)

7 years. It's been some time since I started doing full seasons out in Europe to pursue my dreams. I've been so fortunate to meet incredible people and see the world through skiing. I was hoping to close this chapter off on a high note, but honestly? I'm quite tired. This season was long, perhaps the Olympics, the fact that I was dealing with injuries since the beginning, or that I was just mentally burned out overall. I'm proud of myself for still trying until the end, and I'm optimistic for this next leap of faith. I'm not done with you skiing, but it's time for a new chapter ♡

What a roller-coaster this has been.

First, thank you @olympicmas - especially Tan Sri Norza and Mr. Fong Wan Hor for your support and kind words of encouragement. I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Malaysian winter sports!
Next, thanks to my coach Kai for all your efforts and hard work behind the scenes. There's a lot that I couldn't do without your help.
Mom, dad, you guys have been here every step of the way, you know I'm grateful for everything you've done every day.
And of course, thanks to all of you who supported me! I'm so grateful I got to stand out here once again on this stage representing the different parts of me - Malaysia, Bham, SPAC, Vail, you name it.

I've honestly had a time. Figuring out what comes next, learning more about myself, my limits, and what I want to keep pushing for. This was a good one to take a big step back and reset, because my season isn't over yet.

Although this trip was rushed and there was a lot of uncertainty whether or not I would compete here, I'm really glad I managed to do it even though it was tight with the Olympics right around the corner.

Time flies.. it's been a whirlwind of these past 4 years, and now I'm going for Olympics round 2!!

Super grateful to everyone who has supported me on this journey, especially mom & dad. I was 17 when I became the first Malaysian woman to compete at the Winter Olympics. Now I'm 21, hopefully a little more experienced (and wiser), ready to hold the Jalur Gemilang high as the sole Malaysian athlete competing at Milano-Cortina 2026.

Some issues with my knee since a GS race in China, so sadly I had to take a short break and missed a solid block of races in Europe. Luckily there's nothing serious, and I'm excited to be omw to Korea for more racing fun :))

This season has already been a tough one, and it's only just begun. The 2026 Winter Olympic Games is happening this February, and it's going to be a crazy month leading up to it! I'll be travelling across the world, competing and working hard to improve.
